History of San Lorenzo, California

San Lorenzo Pioneer Cemetery

Mt. Eden Cemetery

The Mt. Eden community, covering an area from the bay shoreline to Hesperian Boulevard, was settled by Americans at the same time as San Lorenzo and Hayward. The community remained unincorporated until 20__, when it was annexed by the City of Hayward. In its earliest years the Mt. Eden community was closely associated with San Lorenzo.

The cemetery (see photo) is located at 2440 Depot Road in Hayward, and still accepts burials. It has a section for the burial of people of Japanese descent, who were a significant component of the agricultural community.
